Conjunction

Venus, Jupiter and the crescent moon gave a treat to astronomers all over the world. This picture was taken by Martin Cooper in Bangkok, Thailand.

This planetary gathering was sent in by BH of the Green Team.

When was the picture taken? Did anyone at middlesex see it?

I did see the two planets on Tuesday the 3rd. It looked to me the opposite way around, however, because the planets were positioned under the moon in the sky. Culd this have done with camera positioning or time of night?

I wonder how this is possible. Venus is closer in orbit to the sun than us, and jupiter is in an orbit further from the sun than us. If this is so, then how is it possible that we could have seen both of the planets at once. Wouldn't jupiter remain behind us and venus in front?

I couldn't see this because it was too cloudy.
