Chile Quake Changed Earth's Rotation ... probably.

From Space.com:  The massive 8.8 earthquake that struck Chile may have changed the entire Earth's rotation and shortened the length of days on our planet, a NASA scientist said Monday. The quake, the seventh strongest earthquake in recorded history, hit Chile Saturday and should have shortened the length of an Earth day by 1.26 milliseconds.  Read this story here.

I can't believe an earthquake could do that. It has much more force than i thought.

Wow. I didn't know that Earthquakes could make the day shorter. 1.26 milliseconds seems not a lot and doesn't seem that long but if you calculate it 30 years from now, you will lose about 37 milliseconds. Probably as the years go by we will be living shorter days.

yes!! 1.26 milliseconds more to do my homework...
On a more serious note, that's pretty interesting, to think that sn earthquake that we thought just affected people, reall yaffected the entire planet.
